1994-1997 Fuel Injectors & Related

We are a company dedicated to the Powerstroke Diesel, so that is why we refer to the OBS model years as 1994-1997 even though the body style started in 1992. The Powerstroke wasn’t available until late 1994; sometimes, you might see it listed as 1994.5, but early 1994 still used the IDI Diesel. 

The Powerstroke was a first in the industry in many ways, one of which included how the fuel system operated. Known as the HEUI system, the injectors in the 7.3 Powerstroke used pressurized oil to push the fuel through the injector and an electronic solenoid to activate the injector. 

While more complex than a mechanical injection system, the HEUI system has smoother operation, fewer wear items, more reliability, and higher injection pressures without the need for a high-pressure fuel pump.
