1994-1997 Axle Parts

The OBS (1992-1997 F-Series) shares axle parts across several model years, but during this time, Ford switched from king-pin axle pivots to ball joints, which we are all used to in today’s modern trucks. 

Also, during this time, Ford used the Dana 50 Split front axle, often called TTB for Twin Traction Beam on the F250 and a solid axle Dana 60 on the F350. Ford also used a smaller TTB axle on the F150 and Bronco the Dana 44. 

These TTB axles get a bad reputation from the general public, but their issues stem from poor maintenance. By design, there are more moving parts in a TTB versus a traditional solid axle, thus requiring more maintenance. 

The benefit of having a TTB or split axle is that the front wheels can move up and down independently of each other, giving a better ride and improved performance offroad. Often, owners of these F250s swap the Dana 60 under their trucks for the added strength and reduced maintenance. 

The rear axle in this generation was a sterling 10.25, offered in 4:10 or 3:55 gear ratios and drum brakes. This category includes products related to axles in the 1992-1997 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, and F-Superduty.
