1994-1997 Fuel System Plumbing

The 1994-1997 7.3 Powerstroke came from the factory with a camshaft-driven mechanical fuel lift pump that supplied fuel from the tanks to the fuel filter mounted on the top of the engine, then to the fuel rails in the cylinder heads and lastly to the injectors themselves.

A popular performance upgrade for the OBS Powerstroke is removing the factory pump and filter setup, and replacing it with an electric fuel pump and remotely mounted filter setup this is commonly referred to as efuel.

Efuel helps prime the engine after filter changes or when it runs out of fuel. It can also support higher horsepower when you start upgrading your truck. Some customers also claim their engine runs smoother after installation.
